Look here, folks. South Florida gets a lot of buzz for its Caribbean and Latin American influences. But we have quite the Italian-American flair here, too. Northern Italian cuisine is front and center at this Margate restaurant. Don’t be fooled by its small strip mall façade — the flavors are big. Back to its Northern Italian flair, opt for exotic stuffed pasta, meaning it may be filled here with scallops, rabbit, wild boar, or you name it.

Is it possible to eat anything at Gianni’s beyond all the garlic rolls one can possibly consume? They are indeed that buttery and savory. If you don’t stuff yourself completely pre-meal, its veal cuts, served mushroom-loaded Marsala style, classic Parmesan, amongst other varities, is a winner.

We can go on and on, but make sure to get some gnocchi here, doused in a choice of everything from a classic red sauce to a delightfully sweet gorgonzola with walnuts. For the vegetarian, gluten-free, and vegan crowds, diners have plenty of options here, too.

This intimate Oakland Park Boulevard spot has the Italian café vibe down pat. Sure, you can snag some fresh mozzarella, a bottle of wine, or other Italian staples in its expansive market by day. But dining in the market – at one of its few tables – and noshing on its melt-in-your-mouth short rib and risotto is where the fun really is.

2023 marked 25 years of this Chef Angelo Elia gem. Beyond its Fort Lauderdale flagship, Casa D’Angelo locations are now in Aventura, Boca Raton, and Aspen, Colorado. Beyond pasta, the chops – lamb, veal, and sometimes elk – keep ‘em coming back.
